Pastor Tribbett was born on January 26, 1976, in Camden, New Jersey. He grew up attending an Apostolic Pentecostal church in Camden. His father, Bishop Thomas Tyrone Tribbett, used to be a pastor, and his mother, Neicy Tribbett, was not only a minister but also a DJ in the Philadelphia and New York area.
He has a brother named Thaddaeus, who played bass in the band “Soundcheck” and now plays for the singer Estelle. Two of Tribbett’s sisters, DeShantel Tribbett-Robinson and DeMaris Tribbett-Toy, are also singers, and they performed with the Greater Anointing.

Career

Around 1996, Tye, his brother, and some friends formed a gospel music group named Tyrone Tribbett & Greater Anointing. The group won the McDonald’s Gospel Choir Competition and later the Wrigley’s Gospel Choir Competition.
Their lively performances caught the attention of Grammy-winning composer and producer David Foster, who invited them to perform at his annual City of Hope event in Hollywood. Faith Hill was impressed and invited Tribbett to join her and her husband Tim McGraw on their Soul to Soul tour. They also provided backing music for Don Henley’s Inside Job tour and collaborated with artists like Justin Timberlake, Sting, Will Smith, and Usher.
