Biography
Pastor Michael Dwayne McClure Jr was born on the 15th of June, 1983, in Birmingham.
Education
McClure finished high school at Minor High School and played football at the University of West Alabama. But after three years, he left to follow his passion for ministry.
He became the “Movement Pastor” at The Revelation Church. McClure earned his theology diploma from Ashland Theological Seminary in Cleveland, Ohio, in 2012. Currently, he’s working towards a Master of Divinity at Ashland University.
Recently, he received his Doctorate Degree from Miles University in Farfield, Alabama.
Family
McClure married his wife, Jacquetta, in 2006. They have five children together. He feels fortunate to have a blended family and to work alongside them. McClure manages to juggle both his family life and his professional life well.
Ministry
McClure started The Rock Church in 2009 at Miles Campus as part of the Royal Nation Movement college ministry. Later, they moved to the L.R. Hall Auditorium in downtown Birmingham. In 2010, the church purchased the 12-acre Forestdale campus from the former West Birmingham Christian School. Since 2012, they’ve had separate campuses at the historic Carver Theatre and Center Point High School.
His first single as a vocalist, “BIG,” came out in January 2019 from his debut album, Live Free. It reached #7 on Billboard magazine’s gospel digital sales chart and topped the gospel airplay chart for ten weeks. The album debuted at number one on Billboard’s gospel album chart.
In the 2020 Stellar Gospel Music Awards, McClure won “Best New Artist,” and his album was named “Rap/Hip Hop/Gospel Album of the Year.” He donated some of his earnings to RIP Medical Debt, an organization based in Rye, New York. In March 2021, his track “I Got It” hit #1 on Billboard’s gospel chart.
Currently, he leads the Mike McClure Band. McClure was also a founding member of The Great Divide but left in 2002 when the band disbanded.

Every weekday morning, McClure was featured on My68. The church, affiliated with the Shepherds Connection in Cleveland, Ohio, has about 10,000 members and is among the fastest-growing in the area.
In 2011, McClure was listed in Who’s Who in Black Alabama Magazine. That same year, he held Easter services at Boutwell Auditorium for 7,000 people. Over the weekend, nearly 10,000 pounds of food and $9,000 worth of gasoline were distributed to the community, ending with an adult Easter egg hunt.
In 2013, McClure put up a series of controversial billboards near the Palace Gentleman’s Club, titled “Strip For Me.” These billboards referenced Hebrews 12:1, urging people to shed their burdens and sins.
In December 2018, McClure officiated the burial of police shooting victim E. J. Bradford Jr. He also partnered with Pastor Buddy Gray from Hunter Street Baptist Church to launch “Pastors4People,” a group aimed at fostering understanding among people following the incident.
Awards
McClure received three more Stellar Gospel Music Awards from the Stellar Awards Gospel Music Academy (SAGMA). He won for his hit song “I Got It,” grabbing awards for “Artist Of The Year,” “Urban/Inspirational Performance Or Single Of The Year,” and “Rap/Hip Hop Gospel Album Of The Year.” The awards ceremony happened in Nashville, Tennessee on Saturday, where Pastor Mike Jr. was also seen on stage.
Last year, Pastor Mike Jr. also won two Stellar Gospel Music Awards. It’s a prestigious program that celebrates the best in gospel music.
In 2023, he scooped up eight Stellar Awards, including three for Artist of the Year.
