Pastor Josiah Silva is an American speaker and the lead pastor of Freedomhouse Church in Orange County. Additionally, he founded JSilva Corp Investments, a real estate company based in Houston, Texas.
Biography
Josiah Silva was born on April 23, 1982, in Los Angeles, California. Raised by a single mother, he grew up in modest circumstances with his four brothers. Unfortunately, there is no available information about his father or his whereabouts.
Education
Pastor Josiah Silva went to the University of Southern California, where he earned a degree. It was during this time that he met his wife, Marie Silva.
Family Life
Pastor Silva has been married to Marie Silva for 25 years. They are blessed with four miracle children, two boys, and two girls, after patiently waiting on the Lord.
Marie Silva is not only Pastor Silva’s wife but also a talented preacher, singer, and Worship Leader. She takes the lead in the Women’s ministry at Freedomhouse Church, reflecting her authentic love for God and people, which is contagious.
Career
Silva runs a real estate firm called JSilva Investments. At the age of 24, he became the CEO of a full-service real estate office with 12 in-house agents, generating over $100 million in annual revenue.
Two years later, he felt called by God to start a church in Southern California.
According to Pastor Silva, he initially suggested to God, “There are so many churches, just bless one of them. Business is good, and life is good.” However, God conveyed His plan to pour out something new and fresh upon this generation, something that would make sense and resonate with people.
Ministry
Pastor Josiah embraced Christianity on February 16, 1997. While in High School, he sensed a calling from God and led the school’s Bible Club for two years. As the number of students attending the meetings grew, he started recognizing his potential as a preacher.
Reflecting on those early experiences, Silva shared, “We would have worship, and I would do my best to preach a ‘message’ even though I didn’t know what I was doing.”
After witnessing numerous salvations, his pastor affirmed his calling, saying, ‘Josiah, I think you are called to be a pastor.’
He then attended Bible college but later transferred to another university for collegiate football. Unfortunately, after three years as an athlete, a knee injury led him to realize God’s ultimate purpose for his life.
FreedomHouse Church
With no experience or plan, just a word and passion from God, Josiah and his wife Marie began their first service in their living room in August 2008. Nine people attended, mostly family members.
Freedom House Orange County (OC) is a nondenominational church that started in 2008 in Fullerton, California. It began as an ad-hoc Bible study class with Pastor Josiah Silva and his wife Marie, overseeing seven people in their then-home in Brea. The couple received a simple message from God, ‘Nothing is impossible for God.’
Admitting the challenges at the start of FreedomHouse, Pastor Josiah mentioned that trusting God to provide was the biggest hurdle, besides establishing a church structure, budget, and staff.
Today, Freedomhouse Church has grown into a thriving, spirit-filled, and life-changing church where over a thousand people attend weekly.
