Ministry

Pastor Dollar was initially an entrepreneur before entering ministry. He started developing World Changers Ministries Christian Center in 1986.

The first worship service was held in the Kathleen Mitchell Elementary School cafeteria in College Park, attended by eight people. Later, Dollar renamed it World Changers Church International (WCCI).

As the congregation grew, the church moved from the cafeteria to a dedicated chapel. Four services were held every Sunday, and Creflo added a weekly radio broadcast.

WCCI relocated to the current 8,500-seat World Dome on December 24, 1995, costing nearly $20 million, with no bank financing.

By 2007, the church reported around 30,000 members and $70 million in gross receipts for 2006.

In October 2012, Creflo Dollar Ministries leased Loews Paradise Theater in the Bronx for a new church facility in New York.

Besides, Dollar is involved in televangelism, conferences, and writing about prosperity theology, known for controversial teachings on financial success.

In 2017, there were rumors of Pastor Dollar dying in a plane crash, stating his private jet crashed after take-off from Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, Atlanta.

Controversy

Dollar has faced criticism for his luxurious lifestyle, owning two Rolls-Royce vehicles, a private jet, and expensive properties, including a million-dollar home in Atlanta, a $2.5 million home in Demarest, New Jersey, and a Manhattan residence he bought for $2.5 million in 2006 (equivalent to $3.4 million in 2021).

However, he hasn’t disclosed his earnings. Creflo Dollar Ministries received an “F” grade for financial openness as it refused an independent audit’s request for financial information.

In 2007, Dollar was one of six televangelists investigated under the direction of Senator Chuck Grassley. The inquiry aimed to determine if Dollar personally profited from donations. Dollar contested the probe, stating that the IRS, not the Committee on Finance, should examine religious groups. The investigation, involving five other televangelists, concluded in 2011 without any charges.
