Biography
Nona Jones wasn’t wanted as a child. Her mom cried when she found out she was pregnant, even though her dad wanted a child. Her mom just didn’t want to be a mom. When Nona was nearly two, her dad passed away, and her mom moved to a new state to be with a man she barely knew. After a few boyfriends, her mom settled with a man, and the abuse started then.
When Nona was 5, her mom’s boyfriend would hug her too tight when her mom was gone. She was too young to get it, but it frightened her. So, she started locking her bedroom door when her mom worked late. At that young age, she learned to use a straightened wire hanger to open the lock.
Nona first told her mom about what happened, and the boyfriend got arrested. But her mom brought him back because she needed money for bills. Sadly, the abuse started again, and this time she chose to stay quiet.
Now, Nona Jones is a well-known speaker, preacher, and author. She works at Facebook and had important roles in different sectors. Besides her work, Nona is good at singing, writing songs, and leading worship. She made a popular Gospel Album called “Take Me.” She also loves running, wrote books, and recently finished her thirteenth half-marathon in Paris, France.

Nona used to celebrate her birthday on July 23rd, and she is 41 years old now.
Education
Nona finished the Harvard Law School Program on Negotiation and has a degree in Communications and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Florida. She was praised as an Outstanding Young Alumna there.
She also took part in the Presidential Leadership Scholars Program, a collaboration between Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, and Leadership Florida. Nona is part of The Links, Inc., Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and the University of Florida Digital Advisory Council for community involvement.
Family Life
She runs Open Door Ministries with her husband, Pastor Tim. They have two sons named Timothy, Jr. and Isaac, and a Goldendoodle named Shiloh.
Ministry
In sixth grade, Nona got invited to church by a classmate. She hadn’t heard about God or the Bible before, so the first service was new to her. When the preacher said, “God is a father to the fatherless,” it touched her deeply. This made her curious about God, and at 11, she started her personal Bible study. By the time she turned twelve, she accepted Jesus as her Savior.
For the next five years, Nona became more involved in ministry. She became a worship leader, youth leader, and started training as a minister.
When she was 17, Nona got her Gospel ministry license in Jacksonville, Florida. Soon after that, she started preaching in Florida and was invited to speak in other parts of the country. While studying at the University of Florida, she became well-known as a preacher and public speaker in local churches.
Career
Nona excelled in her career after getting degrees in Communications and Business from the University of Florida. At only 23, she started in an executive role at a big company. Later, she took a job in the public sector, leading the public affairs and strategy for a big city utility.
Before turning 35, she got an award for her work from the American Public Power Association. Then, she went to a nonprofit job to create strategy for a network of schools. She became known in juvenile justice reform and spoke at major events.
After that, Facebook asked her to lead their global faith-based partnerships, even though she had never worked in technology before. She helped churches and religious leaders with social media and ministry.
She got recognition in magazines like ESSENCE and Florida Trend. Nona now leads the University of Florida Digital Advisory Council and is the head of a local chapter of The Links, Incorporated. She’s also part of important boards and programs.
She got awards from the University of Florida and is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
