He signed with the label in 1996 for his self-titled LP, thanks to a friend who worked at Warner Alliance. The album, produced by various artists including Bill Maxwell, Mark Kibble of Take 6, and Andraé Crouch, became gold after Oprah Winfrey praised it, featuring the hit song “Stand.”

His album “Psalms, Hymns & Spiritual Songs” won a Grammy Award for Traditional Soul Gospel Album. Songs like “Stand” and “We Fall Down” were widely played on Gospel and Urban radio, reaching the top of the Billboard charts.
