Cory Hunter Asbury was born on October 15, 1985in  Fort Lauderdale, Florida, U.S, but howverm hails from Kansas City, Missouri.

Being profoundly affected by music, Cory Asbury developed passion for music at a very tender age and started writing  songs from a very young age while growing up in North Carolina. By the age of 17, Asbury began leading worship at his local church.

Though Asbury initially wanted to study at UNC Chapel Hill, he was however convinced  to attend attend Onething internship with International House of Prayer (IHOPKC) in Kansas City by his friends who were alumnis. It was during his internship at IHOPKC that he started his music career on January 1, 2005.

As earlier stated, Cory Asbury graduated from High School at Franklin High School. He initially intended to study at UNC Chapel Hill but was convined to attend Onething internship with International House of Prayer (IHOPKC) in Kansas City.

His first appearance on an IHOPKC compilation titled “Immersed“, was released in December 2007. Other collaborative works featuring Asbury were released in the following year. Asbury’s first solo album with Forerunner Music, “Let Me See Your Eyes“, debuted in September 2009. By 2010, Asbury already scored two features on two IHOPKC albums with several other live performances and albums following suit.

In 2012, Asbury moved to New Life Church in 2012 where he became the associate worship pastor. He also released Strong God in 2013, as well as co-wrote “Fun” for Desperation Band’s live album, Banner .

Eventually, Bethel Music would sign Asbury and would go on to release their eighth live album, “Have It All” in 2014. In December 2016, Asbury moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan, where he began serving as a worship pastor at Radiant Church.

Asbury received two nominations for the 2021 GMA Dove Awards, being nominated for Song of the Year for “The Father’s House” and Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year for To Love a Fool. In August 2021, Asbury announced that he would be headlining the Songs and Stories tour in the United States, alongside Benjamin Hastings of Hillsong United.
