Robert Morris, also known as Pastor Robert Morris, was born on July 29, 1961, in Marshall, Texas. He is American and his mom’s name is Rosalee. He is the lead pastor and founder of Gateway Church, a big church in America that isn’t tied to a specific denomination.
Growing up, he was in a Christian family and started ministry early. However, in his teenage years, he got involved in drugs and risky behavior. It wasn’t until he was 19 that he turned his life around and became a follower of Christ.

He is married to Debbie Morris, his wife since 1980. They have three children and 7 grandchildren. Two of their kids, James Morris and Elaine Fisher, are pastors at Gateway Church.
Elaine Fisher is married to Pastor Ehan Fisher, also a pastor at Gateway Church, and they got married in 2010.
Ministry
Gateway Church started in 2000, and Pastor Morris has been its senior pastor since then. The first service happened in Texas at the Hilton Hotel in Grapevine on April 23, 2000, with around 180 people.
In June 2003, the church got its first permanent building on Southlake Blvd, which had 600 seats and covered 64,000 square feet. The current Gateway facility, a 64-acre property with a 4,000-seat sanctuary, opened in 2010.
In 2008, the church started a big project for a new main campus along State Highway 114. It included a 4,000-seat sanctuary and started operating on November 13, 2010.
Gateway Church Campuses
In early 2019, the Coffield Unit Ministry began in the largest prison in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. This ministry is for minimum-security inmates, but all inmates can get church materials. They also minister at the Estes Unit outside of Venus. The leader is Stephen Wilson, who used to be in prison, earned his masters from Liberty University, and has experience in prison ministry. Each prison outreach is like a campus.
Now, the church has three independent plants: Gateway Church Scottsdale (in Arizona), Table Church (in the Austin suburbs, led by Morris’ son Josh), and a third one, Gateway Houston (to be led by Morris’ son-in-law Ethan Fisher).
The church also makes music through its worship branch, Gateway Worship.
Gateway Television Ministry
Pastor Robert Morris Ministries, once known as The Blessed Life, is often on Trinity Broadcasting Network and Daystar Television Network. He encourages Christians to be involved in public matters. He was part of President Donald Trump’s Executive Council of Evangelical Leaders, which some liberal Christians didn’t like.
Pastor Robert Morris is also the chancellor of the King’s University. He’s an author and has written many best-selling books.
